Well, the first week is in the books and it has been an experience to say the least. Not having in been in Barcelona for probably in some 15 years or more, it was wonderful to return. The logistics were a bit mangled, but overall, it was good, and everything settled into place. I will say that perhaps, being able to get into a room early would have been nice, but this does not always happen. As a travel professional, and one who wants to assure that my clients get off to a wonderful start, I will always recommend setting up an early check in if possible, so with a very early arrival, and knowing that rooms won’t be available until the early afternoon at the earliest, I book the hotel from the night before or negotiate a rate that allows for early check in.
This is not always possible, but if it is, I recommend it. That said, when I was able to get into my room at 2:00 pm on the day of my arrival, everything else fell into place and the experience has been both professionally rewarding and from a personal and senses point of view mind blowing.
The evening of the arrival, we were tweeted to a wonderful evening at a place which had not even been opened to the public. I shared the outside picture of the building lit up. It was a very nice social event. The next morning, the breakfast at the hotel, and the lunch for that matter were very nice. This was at the Barcelona Arts, where the meetings also took place, and for the most part, each one was very good, and I have some good potential new business partnerships to assist in arranging your next adventure to Catalonia and beyond. After the meetings, we were off to explore Catalonia and the place we stayed the first night and the Michelin Star restaurant were mind blowing. This quaint, totally built into the surrounding Small Luxury Hotel of the World made, even with a long drive that first afternoon, so worthwhile.
Pictures were shared. It was so nice to get out of the city and breathe the fresh mountain air and be a totally secluded world. For a very full day, we were all exhausted and still a bit jetlagged. All of this in 48 hours or less from our respective arrivals.

Wow, the week of my next adventure is upon me, and I am truly excited to be going over to Barcelona, a destination I have not been in maybe a decade or more. Yes, Wednesday, I leave for Europe once again and I will be pleased to share this amazing opportunity with all of you. It is for business as I am attending a conference in Barcelona and having in person, not zoom meetings, which will be very nice; also attending a fam trip outside of this focused on the foodie scene in Barcelona and out into the whole region of Catalonia. I only know the basics, but I am sure for the few days it will be enjoyable. It has been a while since I have had real tapas, but I am sure it will be more and looking forward to sharing my experiences on Facebook with all the colors that is this region.
And, while the front end of this latest jaunt across the pond is for business, there is an element that is truly personal and something, when all is said and done, is why I really am looking forward to being there. Yes, she is flying to Barcelona from Rome for a few days, so we will have time to spend together, and she has said, don’t plan anything. You are not the travel agent here and we are going to just go with the flow. Her exact words I do not remember, but I am not the travel planner here, except, yes, I did get our hotel, sorry not sharing that at this time, but after I have experienced it, for business purposes only will I have a review as well as a review of my experiences there and new ideas to share and arrange for my valued clients who will be coming to Spain in the near future and there are some and later on. I am excited to see what is new since I was last there, again at least a decade ago or more. Since It was February when we were last together, this is a nice break in the time before I get to see her again, which will be this summer and I did not want to wait 5 months, so this opportunity was not to be missed.

Sometimes, you simply don’t have anything that was earth shattering or exciting to share with the world, and perhaps, this last week, was one of those weeks, perhaps not. It was one where I was finally getting into a routine, but really, what does that mean in this day and age. I handled all my major priorities including the job at the store, the business, the coursework and of course, Rosa. If I had to order them, the order would certainly not be the way I listed them but starting with Rosa and ending with the job at the store. I do have my priorities and she is my priority and everything else is a means to that end. Please don’t get me wrong, really, my travel business and the passion I have for arranging travels for all my valued clients is paramount, but finally after all these years having a balance between business and personal life is refreshing.

It was suggested that I change the name of the blog after number 60 and certainly appreciate the input. That is my hope that people are reading the musings and thoughts that I have. I have, however, decided that the name, for now sticks. It is one that while, the pandemic seems to be waning and that is when I started writing it, we can all hope it is, there are always challenges on the horizon and, therefore, those are what this blog is truly all about. Of course, I love to share my moments, business, personal, and every combination in between, and sometimes need to vent about the issues of the world as they relate to me, my business, and my personal life, which as always, is complicated.

Life is not simple and there will always be storms to weather, challenges to address and that is what I am trying to do. I am also trying to simplify my life and learn that the things that I have accumulated over the years, are just that, things. Yes, they have meaning to me, but after almost 9 months here in New England, and not having access to them, unless I really want to go back to the Great White North to claim them, and I will at some point, I have learned to live much more simply and thrive on the things I have in my current possession (yes, I added some things), but really, food and shelter and the connection to people is what I need and that is most important. I deal with challenges every day, be it the personal side of things or the business side of things. Right now, with the addition of my Teaching English as a Foreign Language certification course, I have added another challenge, but I am here and thriving and loving life, especially when I know the days get closer to seeing Rosa again.
