What can I say, but wow, and in two days’ time, she will be here in the states for the first time, and I am very excited for this, for her and for us. When you read this latest edition of Weathering the Storm, well first and foremost, we had a powerful storm that rolled through New England and the eastern seaboard, but Sunday was beautiful, and the sun was shining and no colder than I am used to from Minnesota winters. I would say, it was business as usual, but when I was a third of the way to the store, on Saturday, I received a call, that it was not opening, so I simply turned around, and used the day to the fullest, cleaning up details for my clients, shredding excess paper and simply catching up. It was not a bad thing that I had the day off and it was nice to focus on the business end of things, always having her on my mind. As such, I was also preparing for her arrival and getting myself packed and prepared. I always go through certain routines when I travel across the pond or across the country and there is packing, cleaning, and general catching up to do. This time, I have the short trip, flying Boston to New York City, and she is crossing the pond, God willing. She must have a negative Covid test, the reality in today’s world, so I will be anticipating her arrival on Tuesday at JFK Airport, but also anticipating the results of her Rapid Antigen test, so she can be here with me, and we can spend the next three weeks together.
I have traveled the country from coast to coast, been to every state in the union 3 or more times, except one (do you know which one?), every capital city and over 95 percent of the major metropolitan areas, medium sized cities, and towns and much in between over my years as a road warrior, even before I got into the travel industry. In fact, I had been to all 50 states, by the time I was 26 years of age and have not stopped traveling since. This time, I get to see places in this country through her eyes, which I am so excited to do sharing this time with her, something I have been anticipating for several months now, since we first talked about the possibility, back when I was in Rome and the Amalfi coast with her at the beginning of November. Remember my blog on possibilities a few weeks back? Anticipation is connected to the possibilities. This is about anticipation, not the ketchup song, thank you Carly Simon, but the excitement of what is going to be happening next in my life, one in which I truly hope, she is an integral part and the anticipation of being with her when we celebrate the date, when we met, almost 2 years ago. This will happen on this trip and it will happen in the very romantic city of San Francisco. It also happens to be the same week of Valentine’s Day, which, by the way, originated in Roman times, so how appropriate, that Rosa is from Roma, and we will be together on that date, as well. It has been suggested that the holiday has origins in the Roman festival of Lupercalia, but there are many thoughts on its origins. All I know, is that I want to be with her on this day. Anticipation is certainly based on the possibilities, and it can be good or bad. It does raise the blood pressure, brings on the sweats, but when anticipation becomes reality, especially the reality of seeing her in a couple of days, there is nothing better, especially spending as much time in person together as we will. Here’s to the anticipation and the many possibilities that anticipation brings. In this year of 2022 and the end of its first month already, what are you anticipating the rest of the year? Please send all your positive thoughts for her safe and anticipated arrival on these shores Tuesday and it will become reality. As always, I am interested in your thoughts, comments, questions and adding to the discourse is always appreciated be in on the site itself or on Facebook, Twitter or wherever you read this. Thank you for your support of this small business and it is truly appreciated. Share the knowledge
