Welcome to Labor Day weekend back in the states where everyone is, celebrating, well maybe not celebrating the unofficial end of summer. Here in Rome, we had a bit of a reprieve from the heat and while it is not creeping towards 100 degrees Fahrenheit, it is still in the low 90’s on days. This is Rome and this is Italy. The dog days of summer are behind us and in the distance, the autumn to come. September is here and it has been, an interesting summer here in Italy. I have already welcomed some of my clients to Rome, and just this last week, a family that did a Mediterranean cruise with a stop here. Also, several other sets of clients have arrived in Europe, some right now in Florence and coming our way. It is exciting for me to meet clients here or not in the usual places. I am very lucky have clients all over and sometimes, I don’t meet them in person, but when I do, especially here or another foreign location it is a very nice experience. The other exciting thing that happened last week, or this past weekend, Saturday to be exact is that we had momma over for dinner and was well prepared for Rosa, momma, and I to have a nice dinner. Of course, Rosa was out guiding, and momma came by and while cooking and preparing for dinner and having a broken English and Italian conversation with her on many topics, Rosa chimed in on WhatsApp, to say that it was not dinner for three, but now dinner for 5 and this was an hour before she was to return home. We had lots of different leftovers and different antipasti type things like olives and chips and such and had made a large salad besides the main course, so fortunately, there was food for all, but this is my fiancé’s approach, to let me know very last minute about a change. It all worked out and everyone enjoyed themselves and no one starved, so it was good. Just glad we had extra food in the house and shopping day was in the future. The other thought on my mind now is that in a little over a month, I must once again, due to EU rules leave the continent, again, and I hope by this time next year, I don’t have to worry about that. I don’t like leaving as really Rome with Rosa has become my home. Yes, I have a place to live in the US, but that is not where I am supposed to be. Lots of moving parts and exciting things to happen, but as September rolls on, I will, or at Rosa will be welcoming clients to Rome, as I will be in London at a conference and then later, I have another conference in Tuscany, and afterwards, at least planned, Rosa will be meeting me, and we will do something near Parma and Modena before returning to Rome for my last week here. It will be a busy and crazy month this September and then closing shop here for another summer, but I will be returning and many other experiences on the horizon to share and Rosa has the apartment until November 14th and I will be back to help her close up everything here and maybe try to have an early American Thanksgiving, if I can find a whole turkey here in Rome. They say it must be pre-ordered and that is fine. The other thing that I found last year, but for those who are bagel aficionados, and I am all for a good New York bagel, is that there is a couple, he is originally from New York and own a hostel here in Rome. They also, as a side gig, do bagels (the don’t have a commercial kitchen, but just do for the hostel and anyone who orders in advance) and even kosher dill pickles and deliver for a small fee and minimum order. Thank you, Beehive, I will be ordering again. As always, I want to thank you as always for your support of my crazy little world and my small business. As always, I look forward to your comments, questions, concerns and continuing the discourse through whichever means you read my posts!!!
