Iceland just erupted and I am not just talking about the volcanic eruption that happened a few days ago. Don’t worry, no one is in danger unlike the last eruption that happened during the Eyjafjallajökull Volcano (Get a link for this volcanic eruption) which erupted a little over 10 years ago and caused lots of delays, cancellations and other discomfort across Europe and also parts of Iceland. This latest eruption is that of the Icelanders opening up their borders to Americans again, and if you have valid proof of having had the vaccines for Covid, then you are allowed to return. I know I spoke about a vaccine passport, so it is nice that certain countries are figuring out a way.
This is an exciting time as it shows that perhaps, this Covid nightmare is starting to show signs of ending and the light is getting brighter at the end of the tunnel. I am realistic, not dreaming, but knowing that there are governments out there willing to take a measured chance to allow us and others outside of Schengen to return, with conditions, maybe other countries will follow and there have been others. Of course, I want this done safely and the right way, but now, over a year later, we are seeing successes with the actions taken. Being realistic, I know there will be steps backwards as there are forwards, but even in Italy, where they stopped the Astra Zeneca vaccine for time due to issues, now they will continue and add in the other options into their arsenal. I look forward to returning to Europe and beyond where I know I can be again, to be an example for those afraid to travel. Travel is healthy for the world, educational and eye opening. When you are ready, the Wandering Puffin will be there to assist on your next travel adventure!!!
